Bimetallic temperature gauge
Pioneer's bimetallic temperature gauge is an all-stainless dial thermometer: SS 304 case with bayonet bezel, 8 mm SS 316 stem with immersion length up to 300 mm, dials of 100, 150, 200 and 250 mm, ranges from −50 to +50 °C up to 0 to 600 °C and ±1% FSD accuracy as per EN 13190. It needs no power and is made for bottom, back or every-angle mounting.
- Accuracy
- ±1% FSD, EN 13190
- Range
- −50 to 600 °C
- Stem

Quotation within one working day of your BOQ. Supply across India and export, FOB Nhava Sheva.

How it works and when to use it
Inside the stem is a coil made of two metals bonded together. They expand at different rates, so the coil winds or unwinds with temperature and turns the pointer directly. Nothing to wire, nothing to power: the reason it is the default local thermometer on chilled-water, hot-water and process lines.
Every-angle mounting lets the case swivel and tilt after installation, so the dial can face the operator even when the final pipe orientation is unknown at the time of ordering. On any pressurised or flowing line, fit the gauge in a thermowell so it can be removed without draining the system.
Versions
- Bottom entry. Stem below the case, for tappings on top of horizontal pipes.
- Back entry. Stem behind the dial, for tank walls and vertical pipes.
- Every-angle. Case swivels and tilts to face the viewer after installation.
Typical applications
- Chilled-water and condenser-water lines
- Hot water, boilers and heat exchangers
- Process tanks, reactors and storage vessels
- Equipment cooling circuits
- AHU coils and HVAC plant rooms

Consultant specification clause
Paste into your technical specification or BOQ and adjust ranges and quantities.
- Temperature gauges shall be bimetallic, all stainless steel, SS 304 case with bayonet bezel, SS 316 stem 8 mm diameter.
- Dial 150 mm (100 mm where scheduled), black on white, shatterproof glass, micrometer zero adjustment.
- Range so that normal operating temperature lies in the middle third of the scale; accuracy ±1% FSD as per EN 13190.
- Every-angle mounting with 1/2" BSP connection; protection IP 65 (IP 67 for exposed locations).
- Each gauge shall be installed in an SS thermowell. Make: Pioneer Industrial Instruments, Pune, or approved equivalent.
Questions buyers ask
Which range for chilled water?
0 to 50 °C puts 6 to 12 °C chilled water in the lower middle of the dial and still reads ambient. For hot water at 80 °C, choose 0 to 150 °C. Try the range selector.
What stem length do I need?
The sensing part of the coil should sit in the middle of the flow: on small pipes an immersion of half the pipe diameter plus the tapping height is typical. Tell us the pipe size and we match the stem and thermowell.
Bimetallic or digital temperature gauge?
Bimetallic for permanent local indication without power. Digital Pt100 (0.25% FSD) where a closer reading matters, such as energy audits.
What is a bimetallic temperature gauge?
A dial thermometer whose stem contains a coil of two bonded metals. The coil turns as temperature changes and moves the pointer directly, so the gauge needs no power.
What dial sizes are available?
100, 150, 200 and 250 mm, in bottom entry, back entry and every-angle mounting.
