Stainless steel pressure gauge (Bourdon tube)

Pioneer's all-stainless Bourdon tube pressure gauge has an SS 316 Bourdon tube and socket, an SS 304 movement and an SS 304 case. It is made in Pirangut, Pune with dials from 40 to 250 mm, ranges from 0–1 to 0–600 kg/cm² plus vacuum and compound, and ±1% FSD accuracy as per IS 3624.

Pioneer stainless steel Bourdon tube pressure gauge, dual psi and kg/cm² dial

How it works and when to use it

This is the gauge most specifications mean when they say "pressure gauge, SS". A curved SS 316 tube straightens a little as pressure rises; the movement turns that small motion into pointer travel across a 270° scale. Because every wetted part is stainless steel, the same gauge works on water, steam (with a siphon), air, oils, refrigerants and most mildly corrosive process fluids.

The case is SS 304, weatherproof and dust-proof, with a blow-off disc at the back that relieves pressure safely if the tube ever fails. Order it dry for steady service, or glycerine or silicone filled where pumps, compressors or vibration would make a dry pointer flutter.

Versions

  • Bottom entry, direct mounting. Screws straight into a pipe tapping or a valve. The usual choice for pipelines and pump discharge.
  • Back entry, panel or flush mounting. For control panels and skids, fixed with a front flange or clamp.
  • Dual scale. kg/cm² with psi or bar on one dial, for export projects and mixed teams.
  • Liquid filled. Glycerine or silicone filled, covered on the glycerine filled gauge page.

Typical applications

  • Pump suction and discharge, water supply and fire-fighting mains
  • HVAC chilled-water and condenser-water circuits
  • Process pipelines, tanks and reactors
  • Compressed air and nitrogen headers
  • Hydraulic and lubrication systems
  • Steam lines (with a siphon)

Consultant specification clause

Paste into your technical specification or BOQ and adjust ranges and quantities.

  1. Pressure gauges shall be Bourdon tube type with SS 316 Bourdon tube and socket and SS 304 movement.
  2. Case shall be SS 304, weatherproof and dust-proof to IP 65 (IP 67 where specified), with blow-off disc at back.
  3. Dial shall be 100 mm (150 mm where specified), aluminium, black graduations on white, with shatterproof glass and micrometer zero-adjustable pointer.
  4. Range shall be selected so that normal working pressure is about 50% and never above 75% of full scale.
  5. Accuracy shall be ±1% FSD as per IS 3624, with over-range protection to 130% of full scale.
  6. Process connection shall be 1/2" BSP bottom entry unless the schedule states otherwise.
  7. Gauges on pulsating service shall be glycerine filled; gauges on steam shall have a siphon; every gauge shall have an isolation valve.
  8. Each gauge shall be supplied with the manufacturer's test certificate. Make: Pioneer Industrial Instruments, Pune, or approved equivalent.

Questions buyers ask

What is the accuracy of a Pioneer stainless steel pressure gauge?

±1% of full-scale deflection as per IS 3624. For checking other gauges, use the ±0.25% FSD test gauge.

Which dial size should I order?

100 mm is the default for pipelines and plant rooms; 150 mm reads well from a few metres away; 63 mm suits panels, skids and OEM equipment; 200 and 250 mm are for gauges read from a distance.

Can the same gauge be used on steam?

Yes, with a siphon (U-type or pigtail) between the line and the gauge so that condensate, not live steam, reaches the Bourdon tube. See siphons and valves.

Is SS 316 needed or will SS 304 do?

Pioneer's standard all-SS gauge already has an SS 316 tube and socket, the wetted parts. The SS 304 case and movement do not touch the process.

What is the price of a stainless steel pressure gauge?

It depends on dial size, range, filling and connection. Send the BOQ line or the duty and Pioneer quotes within one working day; call or WhatsApp +91 93700 39974.

Do you supply dual-scale (kg/cm² and psi) gauges?

Yes. Dials can be printed in kg/cm², bar, psi or kPa, single or dual scale, for India and export projects.
